What will happen at the EcoCup festival?

On November 27, the ECOCUP will open in Moscow - the annual international festival "Green" Documentary Cinema, which is supported by the EU representative office in Russia , the Henry Bealle Foundation , the US Embassy in Russia and the Switzerland embassy in Russia. Kolta talked with Natalya Paramonova, director of the festival, and Anastasia Laukkanen, his program director, about the most interesting events and films this year.

For opening and closing, we selected the most audience films. In principle, we try to break the stereotype at festivals that documentary ecological cinema is either boring or very specialized. We often hear the question "How can an environmental movie be interesting to an ordinary viewer?" But, in fact, ecological cinema is very different: it can be a thriller, a detective, and even a romantic comedy. We try to show how interesting Ecodok can be.

At the opening, we show a film made as a journalistic investigation - the “Chocolate case”. This is the story of three journalists from the Netherlands, which occurred in the 1990s, when they just began to talk about the responsibility of manufacturers, when the requirements for what needs to be indicated on the packaging became much tougher. And the journalists arranged such pranks: they called with the camera and said: “So we bought a veal from you, and you have water written in your composition. Why does the veal in the vegetables have water? " Then they found out that slave labor is used in the production of all chocolate. And they decided to go to jail for contributing to slave work, as they eat chocolate. The joke dragged on, and they decided to try to do chocolate themselves without using slave labor, and it turned out to be much more complicated than they thought.

Immediately after the film, the opening will be discussed with representatives of the Russian business "How to buy and not feel guilty?" We invited companies that are engaged in coffee, cosmetics, and chocolate; They will tell you how they try to track their purchases.
