Roskomnadzor has drawn up an administrative protocol against Google for refusing to connect to the Russian information system containing a list of prohibited sites, reports . the department’s press service

As the supervisory authority emphasizes, search engines are required to exclude sites that are prohibited in Russia from search results. To do this, the company must connect to a system with a list of such sites, but Google did not do this.

The protocol against the company was drawn up under Part 1 of Article 13.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to fulfill duties by the search engine operator). Under this article, legal entities face a fine of 500 to 700 thousand rubles. The case will be considered on its merits in December.

Following the meeting, Subbotin said that Google expressed a desire to comply with Russian legislation, and the company needs to solve several technical nuances to connect to the registry.

The register of prohibited sites has existed in Russia since 2012. In the summer, the State Duma approved a bill on fines for search engines that did not connect to it. Roskomnadzor said that Yandex, Sputnik and Mail.Ru had already fulfilled the legal requirement.
