The fact that TV presenter Sergei Brilev has British citizenship "cannot be a reason for accusations or criticism." This opinion was expressed by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov in a commentary to Ekho Moskvy.

“In general, we do not understand the hype that has been made on this issue. Brilev absolutely does not violate anything, having the citizenship of another country. <...> He is not a civil servant, so no restrictions apply to him, ”Peskov said.

According to Peskov, Brilev has repeatedly proved that he is an "absolute patriot", and the presence of citizenship of another country "is not something detrimental here."

• On November 22, Alexei Navalny's FBK released an investigation stating that Sergei Brilev and his wife Irina were British subjects. FBK also claimed that Irina Brileva owns an apartment in London, bought for 700 thousand pounds (more than 900 thousand dollars).
• Sergey Brilev admitted that he has British citizenship; according to the presenter, he is not a civil servant and "has not violated any laws." Brilev also confirmed the existence of real estate in London. He said that the funds with which it was bought "are well known to the financial and tax authorities."
