The debt of $ 12 billion to VTB, which the bank in its quarterly report erroneously wrote down to the CAR account, actually belongs to Cyprus, follows from the corrected statements published by the bank, RBC writes.
Details. The total liabilities of Cypriot residents to VTB amounted to 1.036 trillion rubles. In the previous version of the reporting, it was said that loans were issued to Cyprus in the amount of 234 billion rubles, and the Central African Republic - 802 billion rubles. The Central Bank on its website also corrected the error in reporting.
Context . Earlier, Reuters drew attention to the fact that the quarterly report of VTB Bank contains information about a $12 billion loan to the Central African Republic (six times the country's annual GDP). The bank immediately explained that there was a technical error.
