The Memorial’s human rights center recognized the political prisoner of a resident of Rostov-on-Don Vyacheslav Shashmin, who is accused of preparing riots in the city on November 5, 2017. Prior to this, human rights activists assigned the same status to two more accused in this case - Jan Sidorov and Vyacheslav Mordasov.
Earlier, the International Organization of Amnesty International recognized all three prisoners of conscience. Human rights activists call the arguments of the investigation implausible, the case is fabricated, and the content of activists in custody is illegal.
According to investigators, Mordasov, Sidorov and Shamshin on November 5, 2017 called for riots using campaign materials, and also planned attacks on police officers.
Activists themselves insist that they only conducted peaceful pickets that were not related to the action of the artillery “Artillery” Vyacheslav Maltsev, which was planned on that day, which the authorities recognized as extremist.
