The ECHR awarded almost 1.2 million euros to the families of stolen residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia

The ECHR awarded 1,181,500 euros of compensation for non-pecuniary damage, as well as material damage and legal costs in the case of the abduction of residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia by the feds in 2002-2004. The decision is published on the website of the Strasbourg Court.

In one production, complaints of 10 families were combined - relatives of 17 missing: Lom -Ali Akhilgov; Abdul-Malika and Abdul Dishnaevs and Timerlan Akhmadov; Isa and Ruslan Zilbukharov, Aslan Tsuraev, Kaborza Ibragimov and Sharpuddy Altamirov; Askhaba Konchiev; Usman Magomadova; Yusupa Mezhiev; Alash Mugadiev; Sultana Sinaroeva; Rasula Tutaeva; Turpal-Ali Yandaev and Said Ali Hamaev.

Russia was found guilty of violation of articles 2 (right to life), 3 (prohibition of torture and inhuman circulation), 5 (right to freedom and personal integrity) and 13 (the right to an effective means of legal protection) of the European Convention.

The interests of six families in Strasbourg were represented by lawyers of the NPO "Legal Initiative", two - "Memorial", one - the European Center for the Protection of Human Rights (Ehrac) and another - "Mother of Chechnya".

Earlier, the ECHR has already made a number of decisions on such complaints. So, in October of this year, he awarded over 1.5 million euros to families 20 stolen in Chechnya in 2001-2005.
