“We promise that the theater will maintain its patriotic, vibrant position. The theater will develop. Support for the theater by the ministry will be increased. Not a single production of the theater that is successful will be filmed, ”Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky said at a meeting with the theater staff.

Tatyana Doronina, who has led the theater since 1987, has been appointed to the specially introduced position of theater president.

"Academic" is a guarantee that the theater preserves traditions and continuity in development. The name of the great playwright Maxim Gorky in the name of the theater is reminiscent of the Soviet drama school, the great school. Today we must find playwrights who, in 20 years, will also be present on this poster, like the outstanding Soviet playwrights. This search must be done. And most importantly, the theater should serve traditional values, serve the motherland and our great Russian culture. I will try to do everything for this,” said Eduard Boyakov.

He promised that all the actors of the permanent troupe would continue their work in the theater. In addition, their load will increase: the launch of new productions is planned.

The new deputy head for literature, the writer Zakhar Prilepin, is known, among other things, for the fact that since the beginning of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, he has actively supported the leadership of the self-proclaimed DPR. In 2015, he took the post of adviser to the head of the republic Alexander Zakharchenko, in 2016 he began to take part in military clashes, served as deputy commander of the reconnaissance and assault battalion of the special forces of the DPR army. The Security Service of Ukraine accused him of terrorism. On November 29, Prilepin was elected to the new Central Headquarters of the ONF.
