Russia will comply with the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on paying compensation to members of the punk group Pussy Riot. This was reported by Interfax, citing the Russian Ministry of Justice.

"There are no procedural possibilities for appealing the ECHR ruling... The Russian authorities are conscientious about the issue of implementing all ECHR decisions, regardless of who sends them," the Justice Ministry said.

Compensation must be paid within three months, Interfax reports.

The ECHR issued a decision on compensation for Pussy Riot in July 2018. The court concluded that during the consideration of the criminal case on the “punk prayer” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a number of articles of the European Convention on Human Rights were violated.
Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were awarded compensation in the amount of 16 thousand euros each, and Ekaterina Samutsevich - five thousand euros. In addition, the Russian authorities must pay legal costs in the amount of 11.7 thousand euros.
The Russian Ministry of Justice appealed the compensation decision in October. On December 4, the ECHR rejected the complaint.
