The Committee for Urban Development and Architecture of St. Petersburg called the installation of “Last Address” signs on the facades of buildings “inappropriate” and also suggested that district administrations consider this an administrative violation .

This follows from the committee's response to an appeal about the "legal status" of the signs by Alexander Mokhnatkin, who worked as an assistant to deputy Vitaly Milonov. Mokhnatkin published the document on his Twitter.

The Committee refers to the fact that "this type of information placement is not provided for by current legislation." "The Committee respects the idea of ​​preserving the memory of significant events in the history of the state's development, but the installation of memorial plaques is not the only form of perpetuating memory," the document says.

Vitaly Milonov criticized the actions of his former assistant in a commentary for Fontanka, noting that "nobody gave him the order to butt heads with the dead." According to the State Duma deputy, the project's plaques "should hang" because "preserving the memory of innocent victims is our duty."
