The FSB conducted searches in the administration of the Volokolamsk district of the Moscow region

FSB officers staged searches in the administration of the Volokolamsky district of the Moscow region, RBC reports.

According to a source close to the district leadership, the searches are related to landscaping contracts that the former acting head of the district, Andrey Vikharev, allegedly concluded with companies affiliated with him.

An Interfax source said that the administration had seized documents as part of a verification of data on misappropriation of funds under the previous administration.

• Andrey Vikharev was in charge of the Volokolamsk District from March to October 2018. His predecessor was fired due to "loss of dialogue with residents" amid protests over the Yadrovo landfill.
• Volokolamsk Mayor Pyotr Lazarev, who supported the protests against Yadrovo, resigned in October. Meduza's source said that he quit due to criminal cases allegedly initiated by Andrey Vikharev.
