In the north-west of Moscow, in a fire in the shelter, "Happy Friend", about 30 animals were killed. As RIA Novosti reports with reference to a representative of emergency services, a one -story wooden building on Nizhny Mnevniki Street caught fire at about 5:30 Moscow time. All 200 square meters of area were covered by the arrival of firefighters, the roof of the building also collapsed.
The owners of the shelter were able to bring 20 animals into the street - among them dogs, rabbits and chicken. Now animals are transported to a new building. "According to preliminary data, the shelter is illegal, the circumstances are being clarified," the agency’s interlocutor said.
As the Moscow Komsomolets clarifies, the background of the fire supposedly became the back of one of the aviary, where homeless dogs lived. This wall adjoins the fence from which the arsonist could act.
During the fire, 14 dogs were killed, which were recently brought for sterilization, 10-12 cats, three peacocks, pheasants and a crane, which were settled in warm enclosures for the winter, as well as rabbits and pigeons.
As the head of the shelter Svetlana Komissarova told the 360 channel, from the moment of fire to the spread of fire, no more than 15 minutes passed throughout the territory. “That is, as if everything was smeared with something, this does not happen. We are sure that this is arson,” she said. On Instagram, the shelter opened funds for the restoration of the shelter and installation of the fence.
The page also reports that everything “burned to the ground”, now the shelter is engaged in saved animals. In total, there were about a thousand animals. The exact counting of the dead will be made when the owners of the shelter will be allowed into the territory. According to the leadership, earlier threats from competitors who were not able to win in city tenders for capture and sterilization of homeless animals were received.
In early December, the process of submitting applications for participation next year started, and dissatisfied competitors could in this way remove this multifunctional center from participation in competitions. At the same time, in 2018, the winner of the tender was precisely the "happy friend".
According to the information on the shelter’s website , to visit it, you need to draw up a pass in advance - such measures were taken due to the fact that “obviously false information about the institution is distributed on the Internet, and“ aggressive people ”sometimes illegally penetrate the territory.
