Russia confirmed that, by decision of the European Court of Human Rights, compensation to three Pussy Riot participants for violating their rights to freedom of expression and a fair trial in the case of the punk group in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. This was reported to the Interfax agency in the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Russia.
The department said that "the procedural opportunities for appealing the decision of the ECHR on the complaint of Pussy Riot are absent" and that "the Russian authorities are conscientious about the execution of all decisions of the European Court - outside of who directs them."
Pussy Riot participants Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich will receive monetary compensation for him within three months. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina ECHR awarded 16 thousand euros, Samutsevich - 5 thousand euros. Another 11 thousand 750 euros Russia will pay for legal costs and expenses.
On December 4, the European Court refused the Russian government to revise the decision in the Pussy Riot case, finding no grounds for sending it to the Great Chamber.
Commenting on the decision of the ECHR, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova admitted that, serving his sentence in the colony, she did not believe in the positive outcome of the case. Pussy Riot participant wrote on her Facebook page that she was "shocked by Mordovia", was "in complete apathy" and believed that "her life was over." She thanked her lawyer Irina Khrunova for making her "fighting for her life and not losing faith in the case", even when Tolokonnikova "did not believe in itself."
