Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Valery Limarenko as acting governor of the Sakhalin Region.
Prior to his appointment, Limarenko served as the head of the ASE group of companies, the engineering division of the state corporation Rosatom.
- Valery Limarenko in 2000-2007 held ministerial posts in the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and then worked in various structures of Rosatom.
- The post of governor of the Sakhalin region was vacated on September 26, when Oleg Kozhemyako, who held it, was appointed acting governor of Primorye.
