Skater Chen won the Grand Prix final, Voronov took last place

19-year-old American figure skater Nathan Chen won the Grand Prix final in Vancouver, scoring 282.42 points in the short and free programs. Japanese Shoma Uno took second place (275.10), third place went to South Korean Cha Jun Hwan (263.49).

The only representative of Russia in the singles competition of the Grand Prix final, 31-year-old Sergei Voronov, took the last, sixth place (226.44).

“Not everything worked out in the free program. Mistakes? Yes, they were made, we need to analyze everything,” Voronov told reporters. “I think getting to the final is already a worthy result. This is for me personally, although there are those who think differently. Here all the strongest are represented. A very high level, even in the absence of Hanyu. The Grand Prix Final is a mini-world championship.”

Chen became a two-time winner of the Grand Prix Final, having previously won the final tournament of the series in 2017. He also won gold at the 2018 World Championships and the 2017 Four Continents Championships. At the 2018 Olympic Games, Chen came fifth.

Let us note that two-time Olympic champion Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu could not take part in the Grand Prix final. He made it to the finals of the series, winning at two stages of the Grand Prix, but at the tournament in Moscow the Japanese aggravated his leg injury and withdrew from the competition in Vancouver .
