The prosecutor demanded from 10 to 17 years a maximum security colony for the accused in the Hizb Ut-Tahrir case

At a meeting in the North Caucasus District Military Court, the prosecutor demanded for the defendants in the Bakhchisarai case “Hizb Ut-Taurir” from 10 to 17 years of a maximum security colony. This is stated on the page of the Public Association "Crimean Solidarity" on Facebook.

For Enver Mamutov, accused under part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organization of the organization recognized as terrorist), the prosecutor requested 17 years of a strict regime, for Remzi Memetov - 12.5 years, Rustema Abiltarova and Zevri Absitov - 10 years of strict regime colony. Memetov, Abiltarova and Absitov is charged with part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in an organization recognized as terrorist).

The report of the Crimean Solidarity specifies that all the defendants in the case are also accused of preparing for the violent seizure of power by an organized group by prior conspiracy (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the use of Part 2 of Article 35 and part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code).

The defendants are in custody since May 12, 2016, they were arrested after searches in Bakhchisarai . The accusations against them are related to involvement in the activities of Hizb Ut-Tahrir-a party that has been recognized as terrorist in Russia since 2003.

According to the FSB, Mamutov gathered the Hizb U-Tahrir cell, which included the rest of the defendants. They met in the garage with Mamutov, read the literature of this organization and discussed philosophical, religious and political issues. The Memorial human rights center notes that there were no data that the accused was preparing terrorist attacks, the seizure of power or any violent actions.

• “Owl” draws attention to the fact that supporters of the party in Russia have not yet been seen in real conspiratorial activities. And the accusations of preparing forcibly seizure of power are put forward only on the basis of party activity.
