The Prosecutor General's Office found no violations in the arrest of human rights activist Lev Ponomarev

The Prosecutor General's Office checked the decision to arrest the head of the movement "For Human Rights" Lev Ponomarev. The department found no violations in the court decision. This is stated in the message of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The agency believes that with his post on Facebook, the human rights activist urged subscribers to take part in an uncoordinated action. Also in the message of the Prosecutor General's Office it is noted that 8745 people have signed on Ponomarev.

• On December 5, the Tverskoy District Court arrested Ponomarev for 25 days for posting on Facebook, in which he allegedly called for participation in the action. He was charged with a repeated violation of the rules of the action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Then the 77-year-old human rights activist was placed in special detention center No. 1.
• On December 7, the Moscow City Court reduced the term of the human rights activist's arrest from 25 days to 16 days.
• On December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin asked Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika to check the legality of Ponomarev's arrest.
• The action "For our and your children" was organized by the parents of the defendants in the "Network" and "New Greatness" cases. in Moscow 18 people were detained , 40 in St. Petersburg.
