A box with an unknown device exploded on the A-108 highway in the Moscow region when a local police officer tried to open it, reports , citing a source in law enforcement agencies. RIA Novosti

According to a representative of the region's emergency services, the victim's hands were torn off and his face was injured. The explosion occurred on the road between Voskresensk and Kurovsky after a man tried to open a found box.

A law enforcement source said that the victim was a local police officer. “The driver works as a district police officer, he was in his free time. He stopped in front of the box and wanted to remove it from the road. When he picked it up, an explosion occurred,” says the agency’s interlocutor.

Later, the press service of the Moscow Ministry of Internal Affairs told TASS that the local police department for the Maryina Roshcha district was damaged as a result of the explosion of ammunition from the Great Patriotic War, which he found on the road.

The Office of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region is conducting a pre-investigation check. The department clarified that the policeman lost an eye and a hand. Investigators cannot yet interview the victim because he remains unconscious.
