In Kaliningrad, a volunteer from the campaign headquarters of Alexei Navalny, Oleg Vodyanitsky, sued the Ministry of Internal Affairs for compensation of 15,000 rubles for detention. The decision was made by the Central District Court of Kaliningrad, writes MBKh Media.

Vodyanitsky was preventively detained on October 7, 2017, before the rally for the release of Navalny, who was then under arrest. After that, the activist filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Internal Affairs for compensation for moral and material damage. He also asked to be reimbursed for the services of a representative in court. On all three points, Vodyanitsky demanded 537.5 thousand rubles from the police. However, the court ruled to pay him five thousand rubles for each of the points indicated in the claim.

Lawyer Maria Bontsler, in an interview with MBKh Media, suggested that Vodyanitsky was detained because he could take part in the upcoming action.

She also noted that after the arrest, a protocol was drawn up against the activist, but it did not indicate which article the detainee was charged with. Vodyanitsky signed this protocol. At the same time, the court already featured another protocol, without the signatures of the activist, drawn up on charges of holding a public event without filing a notification (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

According to MBKh Media, in February 2018, the court fined the activist 20,000 rubles, finding him guilty of an offense. In April, the defense appealed the verdict. The Kaliningrad Regional Court overturned the fine and closed the administrative case.
