The head of state said that the new products of the domestic military-industrial complex "are multiplying the potential of the army and navy, thereby reliably and unconditionally ensure Russia's security for the coming decades."

According to the head of state, the latest weapons will strengthen the balance of forces and will contribute to the establishment of stability in the world. “I hope our new systems will make those who are used to militaristic and aggressive rhetoric think,” Putin emphasized, and once again reminded that the new Russian weapons have no analogues in the world.

Putin also spoke about the successful tests of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, the start of the serial production of Avangard missile system, the beginning of the experimental and combat duty of the Kinage hypersonic complex and the development of the use of the Peresvet combat laser complexes. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu added that MiG-31 interceptor fighters with Daggers performed 89 flights over the Caspian and Black Seas.

Separately, Putin stopped at the release of the United States from the agreement on the elimination of medium and lower -range missiles (INFMD). According to the Russian president, this step will have the most severe consequences for international security, up to the "collapse of all security architecture." He emphasized that the United States is leaving the contract "under a far -fetched pretext, and he himself has long been violated."

The INFMD, we recall, was signed in 1987 between the USSR and the USA, only two countries remain participants in this agreement, although China, North Korea and, apparently, many other states have missiles. The United States decided to leave the INFMD after they accused Russia of non -compliance. On December 4, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington will suspend the contract and begin the procedure for denouncing it if Moscow does not return to the established terms of the agreement within two months.

Speaking about the INFMD, Putin said that whatever claims to this agreement, it fulfills a stabilizing role, and nothing prevents him from agreeing to join other countries. The president added that in response to the actions of the United States, Russia will take additional measures to strengthen security.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin touched on such an unpleasant topic as the size of the military budget. The President drew attention to the fact that the Pentagon budget this year is $ 725 billion, and the Russian military budget is $ 46 billion.

“Even taking into account slight inflation, it is still a militaristic budget,” the US President accused, noting that Russia is expected to even reduce defense costs. “This will not go to the detriment of security, we made the main expenses that we had to do in the previous few years,” he said.
