The Moscow City Court upheld the arrest of Ryzhov, who was being persecuted in connection with the “5.11 revolution”

The Moscow City Court rejected the defense's appeal and upheld the extension of the arrest of Sergei Ryzhov, accused in connection with the Maltsev revolution. This was reported to OVD-Info by civil activist Elena Sannikova, who was present at the meeting.

Ryzhov’s interests are represented by Svetlana Sidorkina, a lawyer for the Agora International Human Rights Group. She petitioned to transfer her client to house arrest on the basis that there was no need to keep him in a pre-trial detention center.

The prosecutor, without explaining his request in any way, asked the court to refuse all requests and leave the decision to extend the arrest in force. “That’s what the panel of judges did after a short break,” Sannikova concluded.

At the end of October, the court extended Ryzhov’s arrest until February 2, 2019.

Sergei Ryzhov is the coordinator of the Free People party in Saratov. He is accused of preparing a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 205 with the use of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he was planning to carry out a terrorist attack on November 4 and 5, 2017 and was looking for accomplices for this among activists of the Artpodgotovka movement.
During the arrest, a TNT bomb and five Molotov cocktails were seized from the apartment where Ryzhov was located. Ryzhov claims that these items were not in the premises before the arrest.
Two days later, the court arrested the activist. Subsequently, Ryzhov was transferred to the Moscow Lefortovo pre-trial detention center. He has been in custody for more than a year - during all this time he has not been granted a single visit.
