The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has prepared amendments to the law "On Police", expanding the rights of law enforcement officers.
Thus, it is proposed to give the police the right to inspect a person if he is suspected of theft, to enter a dwelling to detain “persons caught at the scene of their act containing signs of a crime, or hiding from the scene of the commission.” Police want to be allowed to open vehicles if the perpetrator is inside or if the person needs help.
In addition, in the case of “the need to immediately stop illegal encroachments that threaten the life and health of citizens”, the police are invited to allow them to first take “urgent measures”, and then introduce themselves and explain to the guilty person his rights.
