Denis Mikhailov’s bank accounts, the coordinator of the staff of the politician Alexei Navalny in St. Petersburg, blocked as a security measure in the prosecutor’s suit by almost 11 million rubles.
“This means that, firstly, all my cards are actually blocked, and a negative amount with six zeros flaunts on the balance sheet. Secondly, other measures can impose a court, and, for example, prohibit me from a departure from the country if the prosecutor wants it, ”he said on the headquarters YouTube channel.
Mikhailov called the actions of the local authorities “political repressions”: “We understand that this absurd lawsuit was conceived to intimidate the opposition and all activists of the city.”
At the end of November, the prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg sent a lawsuit to the court to recover 10.95 million rubles from Mikhailov and the press secretary of the Vesna movement Bogdan Litvin for the corruption of green spaces during the campaign “He is not a king”. The prosecutor's office also demanded to recover from them another 62 thousand rubles as a state fee.
The protest rallies “He is not a king” passed throughout Russia on May 5 in connection with the beginning of the next presidential term by Vladimir Putin. Protesters in St. Petersburg blocked Nevsky Prospekt and tried to build barricades. As a result, the police detained about a hundred participants in the action (in Russia as a whole - about 1,600 people).
