Russian Foreign Ministry: a Russian who died in a Ukrainian colony was found to have broken ribs and a closed craniocerebral injury

Valery Ivanov, who died in penal colony No. 40 of the Lviv region in the city of Drogobych, convicted of participating in hostilities on the side of the LPR, was found to have a fracture of four ribs and a closed craniocerebral injury during an autopsy, the Russian Foreign Ministry claims, citing unnamed sources .

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, it follows that Ivanov was probably killed. At the same time, earlier the leadership of the Ukrainian colony claimed that he died as a result of an accident: he fell from a ladder-ladder, trying to replace a burnt out light bulb, and hit the back of his head on a trash can.

The fact that the Russian was killed was also said by officials of the LPR. Thus, Olga Kobtseva, a representative of the self-proclaimed republic in the Contact Group , stated that Ivanov "was beaten by guards and thrown into a punishment cell, where he died from the beatings" a few days later.

Ivanov was detained in Stanytsia-Luhanskaya in August 2015. During the interrogation, he said that he had come from Arkhangelsk “to help the “LPR” fight the fascist regime”, and that he had previously fought in two Chechen campaigns - “I went as a volunteer through the military registration and enlistment office.”

Olga Kobtseva also said that Ivanov was on the list for the exchange, which took place in December last year. However, at the last moment, the Ukrainian authorities removed him and several other Russians from the lists.
