The head of Center “E” resigned

The head of the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (better known as Center “E”), Police Major General Timur Valiulin, has resigned. This was announced by Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, reports . Interfax

“These are purely personnel issues that are now in the practical plane of execution,” Kolokoltsev said.

According to Kommersant 's sources, Valiulin's departure is due to the fact that he did not indicate the presence of real estate in Bulgaria in the declaration for 2011. This fact became known after the general's divorce proceedings in the spring of 2018. Moreover, the interlocutors of the newspaper are sure that "loss of confidence" will be indicated as the reason for dismissal.

Valiulin has served in the internal affairs bodies since 1988. He was appointed head of the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in September 2012. It is also on the US sanctions list.

In October 2017, Valiulin proposed introducing liability for parents whose children take part in uncoordinated political actions.
