600 rubles were donated to Botina’s lawyer, not counting the transfer from the World Foundation

The Russian World Foundation transferred 1 million rubles to pay lawyer Maria Butina, arrested in the United States. This was reported on Thursday by the girl's father Valery Butin. The fund in support of Butina was created on the initiative of her lawyer Robert Driscoll, who works without payment, as the family does not have the necessary funds.

"The World Foundation sacrificed a million rubles to the Maria Butina Fund, all other donations amounted to 600 rubles. The lawyer will soon finish the work. I have to lawyer with a total of 30 million rubles for work since July [2018]," the father said.

Earlier, he said that the lawyer plans to achieve the release of Maria Butina by January next year . "His hopes and strategy, the tactics that they now use in the trial, are focused on the fact that in January they want to see it free," he said. Butin added that he approves the strategy that adheres to the defense.

On December 13, Maria Butina, in the court of the Colombia district , pleaded guilty to one of the prosecution points, which concerns conspiracy in order to violate laws on foreign agents in the United States. Previously, she signed documents on a deal with the prosecutor's office. The court accepted her recognition and appointed the next hearing for February 12. At the same time, they did not announce the date of the sentence at the request of the representative of the prosecutor’s office, who said that Butina agreed to cooperate with the investigation, and this process could take some time.

The agreement with the investigation provided in particular that the protection would not object to the current conditions of the Russian woman until the sentencing.

Butina was arrested in Washington on July 15, on the eve of the meeting of Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki. The 30-year-old Russian woman was charged with participation in the conspiracy to conduct activities in favor of the Government of the Russian Federation in the United States. In addition, American special services claim that the Russian woman conducted such activities without being registered under the US Ministry of Justice by an agent of a foreign state.

In the USA, Butina studied at the prestigious University of Washington - an American university where she studied international relations. At the same time, the student constantly asked for an American political strategist Paul Erickson, in agreement with whom she entered the USA on a student visa, do her homework, edit her exchange rate or answer examinations.

This, according to the prosecutor’s office, indicates that Butina studied in the graduate school of an American university in Washington with other people's help, clearly for cover, and at the same time "continued to work for the Russian government." With the help of Erickson, Butina started a wide range of acquaintances with people who could influence the political life of America.
