The writer Amos Oz died

In Tel Aviv, the writer Amos Ozos died. He was 79 years old. The cause of death was an oncological disease.

The writer was born in Jerusalem and lived almost all his life in Israel. He served in the Israeli army and participated in the six -day war of 1967. Subsequently, he became one of the founders and activists of the Shalom Akhshav movement, claiming that for the sake of a truce with Palestine and neighboring Arab countries, Israel can go to a territorial compromise.

Oz wrote about more than 30 large works, including novels, and collections of stories, and non-fiction. The writer's works are translated into 38 languages ​​and published in 36 countries. About 10 of his books came out in Russian. Among the most famous are “The Tale of Love and Darkness”, “My Michael”, “Black Box”.

Oz repeatedly became a laureate of book awards of different countries. In particular, he was awarded the French Order of the Legion of Honor, Israeli Prize in Literature, the Prize of Goethe and the Russian Yasnaya Polyana. He was repeatedly included in the lists of applicants for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
