The police detained a man who was driven by the missing director of the Burger King restaurant Irina Akhmatova in her car from Moscow to Tula. This was reported to the Moscow agency by a law enforcement source.
According to him, the woman's fellow traveler is currently being interrogated.
The arrest of the suspect was also confirmed to TASS by the Moscow Investigative Committee.
- Irina Akhmatova, 29, who heads two Burger King restaurants in the capital, disappeared on December 23 on her way from Moscow to Tula. She went to Tula in her car to visit her parents and on the way picked up a companion through the BlaBlaCar service. As it turned out later, he was previously convicted of rape and fraud.
- Akhmatova's car was found on December 27 near a shopping center in Yaroslavl. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the murder. Moskovsky Komsomolets reported that unknown persons called the husband of the missing man demanding a ransom for his wife. The police think they are scammers.
