The security guard was suspected of the death of a Ufa man who spoke about torture at the police department

In Ufa, a case was opened against a 34-year-old employee of a private security company for causing grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of a person through negligence (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code), according to the website of the Department of the Investigative Committee for Bashkiria. The brother of the deceased said that his relative Andrei Tyunyakov reported torture at the police department before his death.

According to investigators, the deceased tried to steal food from the store on December 29, including a bottle of vodka. The sellers noticed this and called security. They called the police and kept Tyunyakov in a utility room until the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrived. During the conflict, one of the guards hit Tyunyakov several times.

As stated on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Bashkiria, the police who arrived at the store drew up a report against Tyunyakov under Article 7.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty theft) and sent him home. According to the Investigative Committee, Tyunyakov died from his injuries on the evening of December 31. The beating of Tyunyakov by a security guard was captured on CCTV cameras, the Ministry of Internal Affairs adds.

Later, Ufa1 published a video that allegedly captured the beating.

However, the brother of the deceased, Yegor Ignatiev, told a different version of his brother’s death. According to him, Tyunyakov managed to tell his mother that two police officers detained him drunk and took him in a duty car to police department No. 9. There, according to Ignatiev, they beat his brother and “stabbed his hands with a knife.” Closer to 11 pm, the detainee was released.

Tyunyakov returned home only on December 31. That same day he told his relatives that he could not move. An ambulance was called for him, whose doctor diagnosed a fracture of the chest, but refused hospitalization. In the evening of the same day, the relatives called an ambulance again, but the doctor said that he could no longer save Tyunyakov. At 21:30 he died.
