“Indeed, a pre-investigation check is being carried out on this fact. According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident was too many citizens on the bridge,” an Interfax source said.
On January 1, after midnight, collapsed a wooden bridge carrying people onto a skating rink in Gorky Park, injuring 12 people. The mayor's office claims that the bridge collapsed due to equipment failure resulting from a "technical malfunction of the structural elements of the skating rink."
After the incident, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin ordered the dismissal of park director Marina Lyulchuk. Along with her, the Deputy Director for Regime and Security was fired.
