MS-21 will receive domestic components for the wing

The MS-21 aircraft will receive a composite wing made from domestic materials, said the President of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar.

“The MS-21 program will be implemented with a composite wing made from domestic components... Since 2014, the aviation industry has been working with Rosatom, VIAM, Moscow State University, and a number of private companies to create technology for manufacturing composite structures from domestic materials. These solutions are at the stage of transition to mass production, the corresponding samples are being tested, their implementation in the MS-21 program will be implemented step by step after the completion of the main certification tests as part of the general import substitution program,” the UAC press service quotes Slyusar .

According to him, the ban on suppliers working with a Russian company “on the MS-21 civilian product is inexplicable for us.” “We have begun the procedure to appeal this decision,” added the head of the UAC.

It was previously reported that imported components for the composite parts of the wing and fin of the MS-21 project were unavailable due to American sanctions.
