Amur Region: The Contractor of the Vostochny Cosmodrome is detained

The Blagoveshchensk City Court in the Amur Region imprisoned the head of the Leo Telecom company, accused of fraud by almost 26 million rubles when performing contracts at the Vostochny cosmodrome, according to the website of the department.

According to the press service of the court, the general director of Leo Telecom is accused under the article "Fraud". From August to December 2017, he appropriated more than 25.8 million rubles belonging to the Center for Operation of ground space infrastructure (Roscosmos enterprise).

The accused was detained at Sheremetyevo International Airport while trying to travel to Vietnam. Moreover, he did not have a return ticket to Russia. The head of Leo Telecom and his lawyer were able to choose a preventive measure in the form of a non -departure subscription, but the court decided that he could hide from the investigation, because he had already tried to go abroad.

In addition, the accused, being free, may put pressure on witnesses in the case from among the employees of Leo Telecom, as well as destroy documents and items important for the investigation of the criminal case.

At the end of November, the head of the County Chamber of Russia Alexei Kudrin announced new cases of theft during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome. According to him, Roscosmos has irrational expenses, the prices in the procurement are overstated, the objects often freeze, and the funds in the accounts are “dead”. In Roscosmos, the conclusions of the Accounts Chamber confirmed, noting that this concerns the work of the state corporation in 2017.

On November 21, the official representative of the Prosecutor General Alexander Kurennoy said that in cases of violations during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome, more than 140 criminal cases were instituted. The total damage exceeded 10 billion rubles.
