“The face recognition system for the purpose of searching for criminals has already been introduced in the subway, and this year it will also appear on street cameras. And it will be cool: the criminals will stay away from Moscow, they can no longer hide here, ”the mayor said.
According to him, today the recordings from the cameras are used in the investigation of about 70% of offenses, and also with their help fines for poor-quality maintenance of territories are recorded and issued, and the work of state institutions is monitored.
In total, more than 167,000 street surveillance cameras operate in Moscow, Sobyanin added, which are installed in courtyards, entrances, parks, schools, clinics, trade and construction sites, as well as in the halls of executive authorities and other public places.
