The players seem to be still alive.

It is likely that Apple has been working on the seventh generation of the iPod Touch - a musical player, the line of which has not been updated since 2015. This was reported with reference to its own sources by the Japanese edition of Mac Otakara.
There is no information about any characteristics or changes in the appearance of the device. Journalists connected the likely update with the desire of Apple to make the player a “conductor” for users to paid digital services like Apple Music and iTunes. The 9TO5MAC publication suggested that the iPod Touch will be focused on children who are not yet “not ready” for a full -fledged smartphone.
Apple released the IPod Touch of the sixth generation in 2015: before that the player was not updated for another three years. In 2017, the company stopped the release of the lines IPOD Nano and iPod Shuffle. The iPod Touch can still be bought on the Apple website for 17 thousand rubles (32 GB version) or for 25 thousand rubles (version 128 GB).
