The court fined Igor Yasin, who was detained for displaying a rainbow flag at the January 19 march.

Judge of the Presnensky District Court Irina Zubova fined Igor Yasin, co-chairman of the Trade Union of Journalists and activist Igor Yasin, 20,000 rubles, an OVD-Info participant reports from the courtroom.

Yasin was found guilty under Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the rules for holding an action) due to the fact that he unfurled a rainbow flag on a march in memory of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova on January 19.

A protocol was also drawn up against Yasin under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to a policeman), but the court returned the case back to the police.

At the agreed march on January 19, along with Yasin, Nikolai Kretov, an employee of the Moscow Helsinki Group, and two activists of the Workers' Revolutionary Party, Dmitry Borisenko and Mikhail Komrakov, were also detained.

• Yasin was detained for unfurling the rainbow flag, Kretov stood up for the activist, and he was also detained. Immediately after that, law enforcement officers seized two more protesters.

They all drew up reports of disobedience to the police and left them in the Arbat police station for 48 hours. For a long time, public defenders and lawyers were not allowed to see the detainees. * Every year on January 19, actions are held in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and Novaya Gazeta journalist Anastasia Baburova, who were killed by neo-Nazis in 2009.
