The Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided to leave the status of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) unchanged, without depriving it of compliance with the code of the international organization. This is stated in a press release of the organization, writes Sports.ru.
This decision was made at an extraordinary meeting of the agencies, at which all 11 members of the executive committee came to a unanimous opinion.
The Compliance Committee noted that the results of the RUSADA audit conducted in December were very positive.
At the same time, the head of WADA, Jonathan Taylor , said RUSADA could still be deprived of its status "if it turns out that the data from the Moscow laboratory has been substituted."
Recall that in September, the WADA Executive Committee voted by a majority vote to recognize RUSADA as compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code, which meant the return of its accreditation.
The WADA inspection was supposed to get full access to the data from the Moscow laboratory by December 31, 2018, but this did not happen, and the agency granted a delay to RUSADA. According to TASS, WADA experts visited the Moscow laboratory again in January, the necessary data were successfully extracted.
RUSADA was declared non-compliant with the WADA code in November 2015 following a doping scandal in Russian athletics. After that, in December 2016, a report was published on the massive use of doping by Russian athletes by the expert of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Richard McLaren.
