Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is nominated by the president of the country. She stated this in Kyiv at the congress of the Fatherland party, which she heads. The delegates approved her candidacy unanimously.

Speaking at the congress, Tymoshenko asked for forgiveness for the "mistakes" that she made, and stated that she was in no way connected with the Kremlin. She also stated that she would achieve the return of Ukraine that were not controlled by the Donbass regions now.

The congress was the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kiev Patriarchate) Filaret, whose speech was grateful to the rival of Tymoshenko , President Petro Poroshenko, for receiving Autocephalus by the Orthodox Church.
