Police on the island of Guernsey, located near Normandy, have stopped searching for the plane carrying Cardiff footballer Emiliano Sala, she announced on her Twitter.
The participants of the search operation failed to find people and the wreckage of the aircraft. The search lasted 24 hours. Law enforcement officers said that they studied all available information. According to them, the chances of finding survivors were extremely small.
The search operation involved three aircraft and five helicopters, as well as two rescue vessels.
The loss of a single-engine aircraft, on board of which, in addition to the footballer, there were a pilot and another passenger, became known on January 22. He took off from the French airport "Nantes Atlantique" in the Welsh capital Cardiff at 19:15 local time (22:15 Moscow time) on January 21, however, at 20:23 local time (23:23 Moscow time) coastal services received a signal about his disappearing from radar.
