In the city of Sibay, Bashkiria, they decided to use ventilation units to disperse smog, reports . Kommersant
According to the publication, two installations will be used in Sibay, one is stationary, the other is mobile. They want to install the first one in a quarry, where sulfur dioxide is emitted from, and the second, presumably, will disperse harmful emissions near residential areas. Test launches of the installations were planned to be held on January 24.
Residents of Sibay began to complain of malaise due to the smell of sulfur and smog in the air in November last year. Due to air pollution, citizens began to distribute protective masks free of charge in pharmacies upon presentation of a passport with a local residence permit.
On January 18, the prosecutor's office of Bashkortostan opened a criminal case on air pollution (part 1 of article 251 of the Criminal Code). The cause of air pollution was the accumulation of smoke from pollutants, which were released during the oxidation of ore in an unoperated open pit for the extraction of copper ore.
