Nadezhda Savchenko was nominated to the presidency of Ukraine

Nadezhda Savchenko, a former military pilot and deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who is now arrested on charges of preparing a terrorist attack and a coup, put forward to the presidency of Ukraine.

The nomination occurred at the congress of her party "Civil Platform of Nadezhda Savchenko." Savchenko’s letter from the pre -trial detention center read her sister Vera at the congress. It is reported that the delegates of the congress held grenades (fruits) in their hands. This is a reference to the charges of Savchenko, one of the articles of which states that she was preparing the shelling of the Verkhovna Rada from a grenade launcher. "The candidate’s program is a change in the political system with a constitutional way," the congress said in a statement.

Nadezhda Savchenko gained fame in 2014, when she was captured by the separatists with Russia supported by Russia in the Donbass and transported to Russia. The Russian court found Savchenko guilty of the death of Russian journalists in the Donbass. Subsequently, she was exchanged for Russians. While still in the Russian pre -trial detention center, Savchenko was elected to the Verkhovna Rada. In March last year, the Rada agreed to be prosecuted and arrest, Savchenko is accused of preparing the coup with Vladimir Ruban.

Savchenko claims that she does not allow her notary in jail so that she can sign documents to participate in the elections. The SBU deny that she made such a request.

Savchenko’s election ratings did not exceed 2 percent in polls, it did not turn on in recent surveys at all.

The presidential election will be held on March 31. The Central Election Commission has already registered 20 candidates, including Yulia Tymoshenko, who is currently leading in surveys. President Petro Poroshenko has not yet nominated his candidacy, it is expected that he will do it next week.
