The Presnensky District Court of Moscow fined two participants of the gathering against the demolition of the Nightingale cinema center for 10 thousand rubles. Secretary of the "Association of Popular Resistance" Nikita Zaitsev and participant of the action Anton Omariyev were found guilty of violating the rules of the action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Zaitsev told OVD-Info about this.
According to him, today the Presnensky Court considered the administrative cases of two more participants in the action in defense of the cinema center. Lidia Osipova and Igor Safonov were charged with repeated violation of the rules for holding the event (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). What decision the court made is unknown. The protesters did not come to the court session.
- In November 2018, it became known that one of the largest cinemas in Eastern Europe, the Nightingale Cinema Center, was going to be demolished due to the fact that it was not suitable for reconstruction. In its place, they want to build a residential complex.
- On the evening of November 23, a gathering was held near the cinema center against the demolition of the cinema. Then the police detained more than ten people.
- On the afternoon of November 23, 2018, was detained the former head of the Yabloko party, Sergei Mitrokhin, near the Nightingale when he was conducting a public inspection of the cinema to prove that the building was in good condition. At the end of December, he was fined 75,000 rubles for repeated violation of the rules for holding an event (part 8, article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to an action near a cinema.
