The court arrested Senator Arashukov until March 30

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Rauf Arashukov, Senator from Karachay-Cherkessia, for two months, until March 30. The meeting on choosing a preventive measure was held behind closed doors at the request of lawyers, Kommersant reports .

Arashukov was previously charged with participation in a criminal community, pressure on a witness and murder. Substantiating the request for arrest, the investigator said that Arashukov could hide abroad, as he probably has a residence permit in the UAE. In addition, he can put pressure on the witnesses in the case. Arashukov himself pleaded not guilty to the charges.

On January 30 , Arashukov was detained during a meeting of the Federation Council. Later, his father, Raul Arashukov, was also detained, who is suspected of stealing gas from PJSC Gazprom.
