Those arrested are suspected of fraud (Article 290 of the Criminal Code) and participation in a criminal community (Article 210 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators , they took part in the theft of gas from Gazprom in the amount of more than 30 billion rubles.

Raul Arashukov, who holds the position of adviser to the general director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz and the post of deputy of the People's Assembly of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, was detained on January 30 in St. Petersburg.

Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained on the morning of January 30 during a meeting of the Federation Council.
