The Japanese Olympian escaped punishment for a failure doping test in Pyeongchang

The Japanese Short Tradeist Kay Saito will not be disqualified for violation of the anti-doping rules at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Korean Pyeongchang, confirmed by the sports arbitration court (CAS). This is reported by the portal reports Inside the Games .

On February 2, 2018, Sito handed over a positive doping test for a masking acetazolamide diuretic. The 21-year-old athlete was removed from the competition and left the Olympic village.

Later, the CAS arbitration pleaded the guilt of the athlete, and the International Skating Union (ISU) intended to disqual him for two years. However, in December last year, Sito presented an explanatory in ISU, where he stated that the forbidden drug came to it in the body through the food product.

After that, ISU found that Saito’s fault was too insignificant, he had no intention of taking doping. Instead of disqualification, the Japanese was reprimanded.

Kay Saito became the first athlete to violate the anti -doping rules during the 2018 Olympics. It was declared a reserve as part of the Japanese national team for the baton.

It should be noted that the Russian Bobsleist Nadezhda Sergeyev in Pyeongchang also passed a positive test for a masking agent, for which she was removed for 8 months. She also claimed that the drug entered her body through food.
