Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro proposed holding early elections to the country's parliament, whose leader Juan Guaido declared himself acting head of state.
“Do you want elections? Do you want early elections? We will hold parliamentary elections,” Maduro said at a rally in Caracas on February 2. Earlier, Guaidó gave Maduro until February 3 to call early presidential elections.
The powers of the current parliament expire in 2020.
