The court extended the detention of anarchist Azat Miftakhov for 72 hours

The Balashikha City Court postponed the hearing to February 7 as the freedom of anarchist Azat Miftakhov was suppressed. Until then, he will remain in custody. The man is suspected of manufacturing explosives (Part 1 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code). Open Media clarifies that the meeting was postponed at the request of the prosecutor's office. According to the prosecutor, the investigation must provide data proving the need to arrest Miftakhov.

Miftakhov was detained on February 1. Law enforcement agencies hid Miftakhov’s location for more than a day. During this time he was tortured.

When Miftakhov was taken to the department, the anarchist opened his veins, fearing violence. But after that they began to torture him with a screwdriver with an attachment, but without a screw. The instrument was turned on and brought to Miftakhov’s chest. The law enforcement officer also threatened to insert a screwdriver into the detainee’s anus. Then the activist was beaten in the face and chest, and his hair was pulled out.

• Azat Miftakhov is a graduate student at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. According to investigators, he manufactured an explosive device to carry out a failed terrorist attack in Balashikha on January 11, 2018.
• On February 1, searches took place in the houses of Moscow anarchists and left-wing activists. In total, more than ten people were detained, all of them were asked about Miftakhov. Daniil Galkin was tortured with electric shock and persuaded to cooperate with the intelligence services. Ilya Gubsky was hit with a stun gun during his arrest.
• On January 19, Miftakhov reported to OVD-Info that a day earlier they came to his MSU dormitory to conduct a search. At that moment he was not there. Then, according to him, his phones, books, laptop and money were confiscated. On January 16, a photograph of the activist and his passport with the caption “We warned you - stop doing nonsense” appeared on the telegram channel “Oper Slil.” The post also contained insults against Miftakhov.
