In Moscow, the Investigative Committee brought charges in the final version against the defendants in the case of the extremist community “New Greatness” Dmitry Poletaev and Pyotr Karamzin, wrote the head of “For Human Rights” Lev Ponomarev on February 4. Ruslan Kostylenkov was also charged, Agora lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina told OVD-Info on February 5.
The qualifications of the charges remain the same. Poletaev, Karamzin and Kostylenkov are accused of participating in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and in its organization (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). All three are in pre-trial detention center No. 3; they were placed in custody in March 2018.
“We were notified of the end of the investigative actions and that we have the right to familiarize ourselves with the materials of the criminal case from Friday,” said Svetlana Sidorkina.
Anna Pavlikova, Maxim Roshchin and Maria Dubovik, who are under house arrest, were charged on February 1.
Vyacheslav Kryukov is also due to be charged on February 5.
Three men testified against the defendants in the case and escaped arrest. One of them said that he was introduced into the group on instructions from the authorities. Another wrote the organization’s charter, collected money, and rented meeting space.
