A court in St. Petersburg recovered 7.3 million rubles from two participants in the “He is not our king” protest

The Frunzensky District Court of St. Petersburg ruled to recover 7.3 million rubles from the press secretary of the Spring movement, Bogdan Litvin, and the coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters, Denis Mikhailov, for damage to the city, which was allegedly caused by participants in the “He is not our king” action. Judge Natalya Podolskaya sided with the prosecutor's office, which stated in a civil lawsuit that Litvin and Mikhailov organized an uncoordinated action on May 5 in St. Petersburg, which led to damage to green spaces in the Alexander Garden. Damage to urban amenities was estimated at almost 11 million rubles.

The defense side insisted that Mikhailov and Litvin were not the organizers of the event, and were not required to monitor other participants. Physically, they did not have such an opportunity, since the action was not agreed upon.

At the meeting, the prosecutor insisted that, in addition to material damage, moral damage was also caused. “The damage to the plants occurred on the eve of the great Victory Day holiday, so Denis and Bogdan ruined the holiday for the veterans,” was quoted as saying on Navalny’s St. Petersburg headquarters on Twitter. the plaintiff

The judge also rejected a motion allegedly filed by Alexei Navalny demanding that he be involved in the hearing as a co-respondent. According to the document, which came to court from no one knows where, Navalny recognized himself as the organizer of the action, and Mikhailov followed his instructions.
