In Yekaterinburg, two police officers were injured due to an accidental shot from their service weapon while detaining violators; the Investigative Committee and the police began an investigation. This is stated on the website of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department's press service, on the evening of February 5, the duty station of police department No. 10 was informed that in an apartment on Nadezhdinskaya Street, unknown people were drinking alcohol, smoking, making noise and not responding to comments. A patrol squad arrived at the scene.
The police rang the doorbell of the apartment, two men, 35 and 59 years old, and a woman, 55 years old, came out. They were drunk and started arguing with employees. The police demanded that the 35-year-old man take his hands out of his pockets and show them, but he refused to do so.
“Fearing for the lives of his colleagues, and in accordance with the Law on Police, the senior sergeant of the PPS drew his service weapon. The man began to grab the employee by his uniform and try to throw him down. During the struggle, an involuntary shot occurred, as a result of which the policeman received a gunshot wound to the left hand. His partner, born in 1985, was also injured by the ricochet of a bullet,” says Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
There is no threat to the lives of police officers. All three local residents were detained.
