The Investigative Committee opened another case of beating a prisoner in a pre-trial detention center in Rybinsk

In the Yaroslavl region, the Investigative Committee opened a case of beating of Furkhat Yuldashev, a prisoner in pre-trial detention center No. 2 in the city of Rybinsk, reports the Public Verdict Foundation, citing lawyer Eldar Luzin.

Luzin learned about the initiation of the case from the investigator. The victim will be questioned together with a lawyer in the near future.

Human rights activists note that a case against unidentified persons was opened in November last year, but the lawyer and the victim were not told about this. In addition, another prisoner was beaten along with Yuldashev. He has not yet been recognized as a victim and has not been interrogated.

In October 2018, Yuldashev said that in December 2017, while being transported to the hospital, employees of Pre-trial Detention Center No. 2 beat him for refusing to sign documents unknown to him. The prisoner did not do this because, being a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, he did not know Russian well. After the beating, he was stripped and put in a cage, where he was kept for two days. The Investigative Committee began an investigation.

This is not the first criminal case of beating of a prisoner in the Rybinsk pre-trial detention center. In the summer of 2018, the Investigative Committee opened a case under Article 286 of the Criminal Code (exceeding official powers with the use of violence) after the beating of the convicted Ruslan Vakhapov. According to him, FSIN officers beat him with batons upon arrival at the pre-trial detention center and for refusing to make his bed.
