Krasnoyarsk Territory is the largest natural focus of tick -borne encephalitis in Russia, TASS notes . In recent years, the incidence in the region exceeds the average Russian indicators by 9.5 times. Despite the use of antiviral and immunotropic drugs, cases of infected deaths associated with the development of severe forms of the disease are recorded annually.
The search for new remedies of tick -borne viral encephalitis pushed the Krasnoyarsk doctors to study the properties of triazavirin. It is used against numerous influenza viruses (including bird and pork), acute respiratory viral infection, bronchial asthma and other diseases. The main mechanism of the action of triazavirin, developed by researchers of the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ural Federal University, is the blockade of the synthesis of viral RNA. The drug blocks the enzyme responsible for the replication of the virus, its reproduction by its similar structures.
In the experiment in the Krasnoyarsk inter -district clinical hospital, 73 patients with feverish forms of tick -borne viral encephalitis took part. The inclusion of triazavirin in the complex therapy has led to the acceleration of the relief of the symptoms of the disease. The results of the study are published in the journal Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.
The inclusion of triazavirin in the treatment regimen of fever forms of tick-borne viral encephalitis is accompanied by a decrease in all clinical manifestations: a fever is stopped 2.3 times faster, 1.8 times-intoxication syndrome, 1.7 times-catarrhal phenomena, the press service of the URFU reports .
